Arizona Football gets their second commitment of the day – Zona Zealots

Seemingly gaining more momentum in recruiting, the Arizona Football team picked up their second commit on the day and their fourth overall!

It’s been a busy day for the Arizona Football team, but just moments after securing their third commitment in the class of 2020 in Josh Baker, the Wildcats picked up their fourth overall and second on the day!

Meet 2020 commit, Cedric Melton, an offensive lineman from Klein Cain High in Houston, TX. Rated as a three-star lineman in the class, he is considered the No. 150 overall tackle, the 228th best player in the state of Texas, as well as the No. 1,749 recruit in the class of 2020!

While he becomes just the fourth commit in the class, Melton made his commitment public via social media on Friday afternoon, officially picking the Wildcats over offers from Houston, Colorado State, Memphis and Texas Tech among others.

Standing an impressive 6-feet-5-inches and 255 pounds, Melton is quite the athlete, mostly lining up at tackle for the Hurricanes this past year.

While he comes in a bit lowly rated, there’s a lot of things to like about Melton.

For one he certainly helps address an ever-important position of need for the Wildcats, the offensive line! Arizona has had quite the attrition, injuries, transfers, etc. along the offensive line, and while they should be okay for 2020, they got to start building depth for the future, and that’s what Melton does!

When looking at his film, there is plenty to like! Melton certainly has a lot of raw skill, and seems to play with a bit of a nasty streak which should be coveted by the Wildcats.

I will say he does tend to play a bit tall on his blocks, which isn’t a bad thing, but certainly could be improved upon.

Melton is plenty strong, he certainly excels in the running game and shows upside explosiveness. He moves well, shows solid flexibility and agility and looks like a nice addition for the Cats!

Just watch here…

At Zona Zealots, we’re happy for Cedric and can’t wait to see him continue to develop and make it to Tucson! As always, Bear Down!
