Good morning and for those of you who are stoked that today is Opening Day at Saratoga, Merry Christmas!
The good news is our weather today will be better than this past December 25th (flurries, 35 degrees). The bad news is that more than flurries will fall from the skies before the sun goes down.
Clear skies to the east, more clouds to the west are yielding temperatures from the upper 50s to 70 degrees. Dewpoints are in the upper 50s to mid-60s.
There are a few showers closing in on the Adirondacks and a few more in the southern Berkshires; both will be of little consequence other than where they are this morning.
Any sunshine this morning will fade away as we get to noontime or so. Dewpoints will be on the rise. It’ll be a mostly cloudy and hazy afternoon with scattered showers and storms developing. They’ll start off to our west in the early afternoon, first to the Mohawk Valley/Adirondacks. From there, they’ll be scattered and moving east toward the upper Hudson Valley by 4:00 or so.
“Scattered” is the operative word through late afternoon with an increase in coverage from there.
Into this evening, more showers/storms will show up with locally heavy rain into the night. Things will quiet down overnight with temperatures falling back to the 60s before first light in the morning.
Tomorrow start off dry; most of us will stay dry through the day but some scattered showers will pop up from late morning into mid-afternoon. Think of it as a hangover; leftover energy from today’s rains. It’ll be a warm and still pretty muggy day with highs in the 70s and low 80s.
From there, it’s smooth sailing: you can check out that forecast here. Not too shabby.
Don’t forget, JasonsWeather is a full service operation!
I have your forecasts for many things including SPAC, Alive at 5 and of course, The Track.
Something else I’ll be covering through the season is tropical weather. A storm will be named Barry before too long and it’s to be a most unwelcome guest to New Orleans and other parts of the central Gulf. I’ll have the latest here.
Have a great Thursday!
