Michigan football 2019 roster: Jersey Nos. for freshmen; biggest weight gains – MLive.com

We now know who will be on the Michigan football team for the 2019 season.

The 112-man roster was released quietly Monday on the Michigan athletic department’s official website. There are no big surprises to report — no additional scholarship players from the spring left off, like last year — only jersey numbers for the incoming freshmen class and several players with serious changes in weight.

We’ll start with the 2019 recruiting class, which has dropped to 25 players after three-star receiver Quintel Kent announced late Sunday he was not medically cleared to play this fall.

— TE Erick All: 6-foot-4, 229 pounds (No. 83)

— LB Joey Velasquez: 6-0, 213 pounds (No. 9)

Note that George Johnson III, recruited as a three-star athlete from Florida, is listed as a wide receiver for now.

Other notes:

+ Michael Danna, the graduate transfer defensive end from Central Michigan, is listed at 6-foot-2 and 261 pounds. He’ll wear No. 4.

+ The players with the biggest listed weight gains over the summer: Offensive tackle Ryan Hayes (up 28 pounds), defensive lineman Julius Welschof (+25), offensive tackle Jalen Mayfield (+23) and kicker Jake Moody (+21).

+ Ben Mason — expected to play running back and defensive tackle this season — is now listed at 270 pounds, a 16-pound increase from spring.

+ Offensive tackles Jon Runyan, Jr., and Andrew Stueber are both up 11 pounds, to 321 and 333 pounds respectively. Runyan is believed to have locked down the starting left tackle spot, while Stueber will compete with Mayfield during preseason camp at right tackle.

+ Defensively, edge rusher Josh Uche is up 12 pounds to 250, while end Kwity Paye is up 17 pounds to 277. Defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is up 10 pounds, to 278.

+ After adding 20 pounds this time last year, defensive tackle Donovan Jeter is down 18 pounds, to 290. Jeter took a big leap in spring and will vie for a starting role along the defensive line this fall.

+ Kicker Quinn Nordin, who remains in a “neck-and-neck” competition with Moody, is down 10 pounds to 196.
